| Dr. Daniel Acharuparampil, 70, Archbishop of Varappuzha and president of the Kerala Catholic Bishops’ Council, passed away at Lourdes Mission Hospital here at 11.10 a.m. on Monday.
He was admitted to the hospital three days ago with high fever. Doctors who attended to him said he had suffered multiple organ failure. He was on the life support system for the whole of Saturday and Sunday.
The mortal remains of the archbishop would be brought to St. Francis Assisi Cathedral here at 9. a.m. on Tuesday for the public to pay their respects. The funeral rites will begin at the St. Albert’s School grounds at 3.30 p.m. on Wednesday
Around 50 bishops from different parts of India, Cardinal Oswald Gracias of Mumbai and Vatican Nuncio in India Pedro Lopez Quintana are expected to participate in the funeral. |
